Thank you for views during CAP review

-

Dear Editor

This is a letter to the community of Blairgowrie and Rattray.

The steering group behind the review of the Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Action Plan (CAP) would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the recent community survey and share their views on how Blairgowrie and Rattray could be improved as a place to live in, work in or visit.

Thanks also to all the local groups and organisations who took part in stakeholder meetings to share their thoughts on what can be done to ensure that the needs and wishes of the local community are addressed.

Our team is now working through the responses behind the scenes.

The key findings of the review will be shared in a draft action plan, which will set out recommended priorities for consideration at online and, possibly, one or two sociallydistanced events.

Soon after this, the final action plan will be published – and that is when the hard work really starts.

You can find out more about the community action plan at www.brdt.org.uk

Unkeptlocalarea

Dear Editor

I couldn’t help but notice the appalling overgrown and unkept condition of many common areas in Blairgowrie and Rattray.

The upper Riverside Walk – on the Blairgowrie side you cannot see the river from many points for overgrown weeds – the Boating Pond and the Braes, places for peaceful walk and rest for locals and visitors, are a disgrace.

Paths are narrowing due to the overgrowth and access to some seating is either poor or impassable due to the pathways and steps being shrouded or completely overgrown.

A stroll round the Boating Pond is impossible.

The areas of Croft Court, Ferguson Park and Altamount, to name a few, are also a complete eyesore with overgrowth and weeds.

My disappointment is with Perth and Kinross Council and our local councillors, who have let the condition of these areas become out of hand and almost unmanageable.

I appreciate the good work of many of the local charity groups and this issue is not directed at them.

Local residents and visitors deserve better than this from their council and councillors. Callum Macleod, by email

Climatefunding Dear Editor

The UK is responsible for 1.13 per cent of global emissions whereas China, Russia and India make up 40 per cent.

China cannot be trusted

as shown by its activities recently in Hong Kong, the threat of war against Taiwan and the ongoing persecution of Uyghur Muslims.

Russia shows aggression in other regions.

India is a space nation and is building coal-fired electricity plants.

Developing countries, and I include China among them, are demanding that they immediately receive their share of the $100 billion-ayear climate fund promised by developed nations.

India says this is insufficient and refuses to discuss its emission’s targets until this $100 billion is dramatically increased.

It is my opinion that it is this yearly $100 billion cash that these countries are after, not saving the planet.

I feel that, until developing countries produce legallybinding Climate Change Acts, they should be refused a slice of this climate cake and seats at COP26, then onwards, until they do.
