Local golf club on the market

-

An east Perthshire golf club is up for sale after being put on the market for £1.4 million.

The current owners at awardwinning Strathmore Golf Centre near Alyth are set to retire.

The facility extends over 150 acres, and features an 18-hole course, a ninehole par three course, a clubhouse with bar and restaurant, plus practice facilities – including a driving range.

Global commercial property specialist Colliers is marketing the property and business as a going concern complete with goodwill and trade contents.

Senior surveyor Robert Smithson said: “This is a rare opportunity to buy an established, award-winning golf course which is a successful business in its own right with strong membership and impressive visiting player income, and which also offers potential for further development.

“The business has been progressively improved and developed by the current management during their ownership, and the property is now ready to be taken to the next level by owners who wish to realise its considerable inherent commercial potential.”

He added: “Although now lapsed, outline planning permission was granted in 2008 for the construction of new leisure facilities which included a hotel, gym, new clubhouse, and chalet/ lodge accommodation together with a new manager’s house.

Strathmore Golf Centre was voted Scotland’s best golf experience in the 2016 and 2017 Scottish Golf Tourism Awards in the under £50 category.

It features the 18-hole, par 72 Rannaleroch Course – which was designed by John Salveson and was opened in 1996 by Scottish professional golfer Kathryn Marshall-Imrie.

In addition, there is a nine-hole par 27 course, The Leitfie Links, and practice areas with a large putting green and practice bunker.
