Saturday, August 21

10am to 4pm - Floral studies workshop with artist Rosemary Patterson. Rowantree Studio, Golf Course Road, Blairgowri­e. A short demonstrat­ion on sketching and watercolou­r techniques followed by exploring the garden to choose and pick flowers to work with. Participan­ts are invited to bring their own sketchbook and brushes if desired but otherwise all materials are provided. Lunch is served at 12.30pm, with eggs from Rowantree’s free ranging ducks and chickens, and vegetables, herbs and fruit from the garden. The afternoon is spent completing the final painting. Stepby-step teaching is given as required or simply tips and advice for those with prior experience. Tickets £12.

7pm to 8.30pm - Musicians Bob Stewart and Sol Christie perform an evening of country classics. Blairgowri­e Bowling Club, Lochy Terrace, Blairgowri­e. Doors open 6.45pm. Tickets £5. Online streaming option available.

Sunday, August 22

7pm to 8.30pm - Free, open mic music session. Join Bob Stewart and friends for some live music, chat and a laugh – everyone is invited to come along to and join in.

Monday, August 23

7.30pm - Death By Radio, a Murder Mystery performed by the Blairgowri­e Players. Featuring a disparate group of BBC actors during the Second World War who are having to make do with the local hotel as a studio where someone is murdered and the audience has to determine who the culprit is and why they did it. Rattray Bowling Club, Middle Road. Tickets, priced at £8, available from The Card Gallery on Blairgowri­e’s Allan Street or by calling 01250 876444. Audience members are asked to bring their own nibbles. A bar will be available. Doors open 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tuesday, August 24

10am to noon - Make a hanging macrame tree of life with Kristine Blackbourn. Rattray Hall, Balmoral Road. All materials supplied. Tickets £4.

10.30am to noon - Rag rug making taster session with the team at Nest

Creative Spaces in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowri­e. This session will show you the basic techniques of hook and latch and rag rug making. Suitable for age 12 and over. Under 16s to be accompanie­d by an adult. Tickets £5 which includes materials.

2pm to 3.30pm - Explore the area around the River Ericht and be inspired by the natural environmen­t to get creative. This session involves a gentle walk along the riverside area in the town before returning to Nest to create a piece of art in whatever medium you are inspired to do so and based on what you found on your walk. Additional materials will be supplied from the reuse remnant shop at Nest. Wear clothes appropriat­e to the weather. Tickets £5.

7pm to 8.30pm - An evening of Gaelic songs with Rebecca Stewart at the Angus Hotel. Tickets £5. Online streaming option available.

Wednesday, August 25

10.30am to noon - Needlefelt­ing taster session with the team at Nest Creative Spaces in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowri­e. This session will show you the basic techniques of needlefelt­ing, the art of creating pictures and 3D objects using felting wool and needles. Suitable for age 12 and over. Under 16s to be accompanie­d by an adult. Tickets £5 which includes materials. SOLD OUT

2pm to 3.30pm - French knitting taster session with the team at Nest Creative Spaces in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowri­e. This session will show you the basic techniques of French or tubular knitting. Suitable for age 12 and over. Under 16s to be accompanie­d by an adult. Tickets £5. Materials and tools will be available for purchase at the end of the session.

Thursday, August 26

10.30am to noon - Decorate with decoupage taster session with the team at Nest Creative Spaces in the

Wellmeadow, Blairgowri­e. This session will show you the basic techniques of decoupage. There will be a large range of decoupage paper, glue and embellishm­ents, plus ceramic pots, vases, frames, coat hangers etc that can be decorated, or bring your own item. Suitable for age 12 and over. Under 16s to be accompanie­d by an adult. Tickets £5.

10am to 5pm - Rattray Arts Festival, Rattray Church Hall. Showcasing the talent and skills of local creative artists this exhibition feature hundreds of original paintings and selected designs by local sculptors, jewellers, silversmit­hs, stained glass artists, potters and a weaver. 20 per cent of all sales will be donated to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA). Refreshmen­ts available.

10am to noon - Moving pictures workshop with artist Janet McCrorie. Rattray Hall, Balmoral Road. This workshop will look at the observatio­n and interpreta­tion of movement in drawing and painting. Participan­ts will need sketchpads, collage papers, scissors and PVA glue, chalk or oil pastels, acrylic paints in red, yellow and blue, ink/black or coloured and sharpened sticks and paintbrush­es in various sizes. Tickets £10.

10am to 1pm - Flower Watercolou­r workshop with artist Liz Dulley, Upper Hall, 1 Upper Allan Street, Blairgowri­e. Learn to paint flowers using watercolou­rs. Suitable for all abilities. Tickets £10.

10.30am to 4.30pm - Painting Competitio­n “En Plein Air”. Registrati­on is at Rattray Hall, Balmoral Road, between 10.30am and 11am. Bring your own blank canvas, paper or board. Free to enter, one painting allowed per artist. Work to be submitted at Rattray Hall before 4.30pm for judging. Prizes will be awarded in two categories - under 16 (£25) and adult (£100) - as vouchers redeemable at Greyfriars Art Shop in Perth. The winning entries will be exhibited as part of the Rattray Arts Festival.
