Course info at open day

- JOHNATHON MENZIES

Perth College UHI will return to face-to-face teaching in the upcoming semester.

The next session of courses begins at the start of September.

And, ahead of the return, an open day will take place on August 28 from noon to 4pm at the Webster Building at the campus off Perth’s Crieff Road.

Staff will be on hand to answer queries about course information and funding and to provide career advice.

Depute principal of Perth College UHI, Lorenz Cairns, said:“Bringing back our popular open days gives prospective students and their families a wonderful opportunity to get a taster of what the next chapter of student life is like at Perth College UHI.”

The college received a further boost after the University of the Highlands and Islands group was “rated positively”for its response to Covid-19 in a UK-wide survey of students.

The 2021 National Student Survey findings found that the university performed“significantly above average”in both the Scottish and UK sector in questions about the virus.

Perth College UHI principal, Dr Margaret Cook, said:“We are delighted that the updated guidance will enable face-to-face learning to continue in colleges next session – including all practical work that students will be undertaking as part of their course.

“Perth College UHI will continue to have safety measures in place to ensure the safety of staff and students on campus and to mitigate ongoing risks of transmission.

“Protective measures include hand-sanitisation stations, providing materials to clean surfaces, one-way systems, continued promotion of good ventilation, the requirement for face coverings in certain settings, and continued compliance with Test and Protect, including self-isolation when necessary.”
