Bridge of Cally has always been popular with visitors
Dear Editor
I was reading the Blairgowrie Advertiser recently while going through a pile of recently purchased old postcards.
It was interesting that one of these was a postcard of Bridge of Cally at the same time as your paper’s front page article featured the repairs to the bridge.
From what I can make out, the postcard appears to be from 1937.
The message on the back, sent to a Miss Seith in Broughty Ferry, states: “We arrived here on Saturday after a pleasant journey by rail and coach.
“The weather is delightful. There are quite a number of visitors here at present. Love to both from yours sincerely MH.”
In my opinion it just confirms that Bridge of Cally continues as a popular holiday destination, long after the rail service to Blairgowrie ceased.
Bob Hynd,
Alyth
