Rams get ready to resume training sessions

-

The new Blairgowrie Rams season gets under way on Sunday this week at the JJ Coupar Recreation Ground.

After a successful summer of touch rugby, organisers have said that the children are keen to start the new year and are looking forward to both honing their skills at training sessions and playing upcoming fixtures against other local teams.

Weekly training, for players in primary four to those under the age of 18, takes place from 10.30am until noon, and the session for those in primary one to three runs from 11am until noon.

New players are welcome, with the Rams keen to increase membership at S1-S3 level.

The club also already has several female players and wishes to introduce more girls to the sport.

James Thom, one of the younger players, said he enjoys playing the sport with the encouragement and support from coaches, who make it fun and promote a respectful atmosphere.

A spokesperson for the Rams said:“Rugby is such an inclusive sport, regardless of people’s ability, and all new players get a free four-week trial period to make sure it’s for them.”

The club representative continued:“Anyone who wants to come along is welcome.

“You will learn new skills, keep fit and have great fun with others.”
