Plea to put your firm in for Queen’s award
The Lord-Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross is encouraging businesses to apply for The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.
Applications for the “most prestigious business awards in the UK”close at noon on September 6.
Established by a royal warrant on November 30, 1965 and first awarded in 1966, The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is a programme for British businesses and other organisations who excel at international trade, innovation, sustainable development or promoting opportunity through social mobility.
They are free to enter and are open to businesses and non-profit organisations throughout the UK, in every sector.
To date, over 7000 companies have received a Queen’s Award.
Stephen Leckie, Perth and Kinross LordLieutenant, said: “Perthshire is full of exciting and innovative businesses and what would be a better way to be recognised and rewarded for their contribution to the local economy than to celebrate with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise?
“The benefits of these awards are huge. The very process of entering can be a worthwhile and fruitful process in itself, revisiting the catalyst to create the business, how it has developed and its aims for the future.”
Mr Leckie added: “Global competition is becoming tougher and applying for, and receiving an award, presents an opportunity to gain a competitive advantage going forward.”
Winners have reported benefiting from worldwide recognition, increased commercial value, greater press coverage and a boost to staff morale. Successful companies will attend a Royal reception, be presented with the award by the Lord-Lieutenant and be able to fly the Queen’s Awards flag at the company’s main office.
They will also be able to use the emblem on marketing materials.
They’ll also get an official certificate and a commemorative crystal trophy.
