Scotland-wide vote

An east Perthshire care home has been named as one of the top 20 in Scotland as part of a national awards process.

Balhousie Coupar Angus received the recognition after being given a massive thumbs-up from residents and their relatives.

The top 20 listing has come from reviews-based website www. carehome.co.uk, which announced its annual awards earlier this month.

Reviews from residents and families have consistently been fivestar for the popular Meadowside Close home, which residents and relatives have lauded for its caring, attentive staff, food and activities.

Balhousie Coupar Angus has also been given a top ‘10 out of 10’ rating by the same website.

Home manager and long-time Balhousie staff member, Morag Shea, joined the Coupar Angus team in March last year.

A trained nurse who was formerly at Balhousie Rumbling Bridge, Morag said: “It means so much for us to be ranked as one of the country’s top 20 care homes.

“The team and I have worked incredibly hard and through the tough times of the Covid pandemic to make Balhousie Coupar Angus a home from home for residents.

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to them and our relatives for their kind words and consistent support.”

John Kirk is the deputy chief executive officer at Balhousie Care Group.

He said: “Morag and her team are a shining example of what Balhousie Care Group is all about – creating a family environment for residents, relatives and staff.

“And the fact they have gained this success despite the challenges of the pandemic and sector-wide staffing issues is remarkable.”

Morag also explained that several of the Coupar Angus team are planning to pursue nursing degrees through the Open University while remaining in employment.
