Good causes benefit from area’s kindness

- CLARE DAMODARAN

Big-hearted residents in east Perthshire have been thanked for supporting people in need by donating items.

The donations have been coordinated by Blairgowrie-based Soroptimist Jean Campbell.

Starter Packs Perth, Buttons and Bows Baby Bank Perth, and the Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH) Day Centre have all been recipients.

Jean said: “We know that many people are in need, for one reason or another, and particularly at the moment.

“And we also know that too many items are being sent to landfill and that we must recycle or re-use items which still have plenty of life left in them rather than just throwing them away.

“Thankfully there are many likeminded people in Blairgowrie, Rattray and the surrounding area who donate items for onward distribution.

“I would therefore like to say a big thank you to family, friends, neighbours, Ericht Lodges, Ivybank Lodge - Gary’s mum and dad Blythswood Care, Thrifty One and the

Kirk Sale in Alyth, Hodge Solicitors, Blairgowrie Junior FC and the Rotary Club of Blairgowrie, all of whom have donated either household items, baby and young children’s items and/or clothing for distribution to Starter Packs Perth, Buttons and Bows Baby Bank Perth, and Churches Action for the Homeless Day Centre (CATH). “You are all wonderful!” Buttons and Bows Baby Bank is a non-profit organisation which aims to support families experiencing financial difficulties in Perth and Kinross, providing the essential items needed to care for their babies and children, helping alleviate the pressure of bringing up a young family with extremely limited resources.

CATH supports the development and delivery of projects to relieve homelessness and poor housing, improve conditions for and generally aid the development of people who are homeless in the area.

CATH also works in conjunction with Starter Packs Perth to provide access to basic household goods to individuals and families on low incomes who have been given the tenancy of a house or flat.
