Blair’s battlers beaten

- SPORTS REPORTER

Blairgowrie RFC battled hard but were ultimately on the end of a 45-25 defeat against Grangemouth on Saturday.

It was the first league match of the season at JJ Coupar Recreation Park as the previous week’s tie was called off as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Visitors Grangemouth are a well-drilled outfit and play an extremely physical brand of rugby.

Blair put up a good fight and scored some quality tries but it wasn’t to be their day.

The east Perthshire side are due to head to Fife on Saturday to play a league tie against Dunfermline. Kick-off is set for 3pm. Training takes place from 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at JJ Coupar Recreation Park.

Off the pitch, the club is holding its dinner dance at the Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus on Saturday, November 12.

Further details are expected to be announced shortly.
