Calendar welcome boost for local trio
Proceeds to three groups
Three worthy groups are set to receive a welcome cash boost thanks to Blairgowrie’s popular Mitchell’s Newsagent.
Representatives from award-winning environmental group Blairgowrie and Rattray in Bloom, Mantalk and Jordan’s Challenge visited the busy High Street shop to launch sales of this year’s edition of the Blairgowrie and Rattray calendar, which features photographs provided by the shop’s customers.
The calendars have been produced by the team at Mitchell’s for a number of years and the 2023 edition is currently available to purchase in the shop.
Kevin Donald of Mitchell’s explained: “We make our own calendar every year with pictures provided by our customers, as well as some of our own.
“We’ve been doing it for the last seven years and this year we were delighted to be able to support Blair in Bloom, Mantalk and the fundraising efforts for a new mental health hub in town.
“The calendar travels all around the world to friends, relatives and former residents of Blairgowrie and Rattray who enjoy seeing the pictures of our town.
“We always have a great response to the competition we run to submit scenic photos of the town and the surrounding area, and this year has been no exception.
“Please keep taking photos and sending them to us!
“We would like to say a big thank you to
everyone who supplies the photographs, and who buys the calendar, they are always very popular and sell out quickly.”
Blair in Bloom’s Pat Lumsden said: “We are very grateful as always to Kevin, both for the donation from the calendars and for looking after the planters outside Mitchell’s so well, they always look fantastic.
“Kevin is such a great supporter of everyone in the town and we are delighted that once again he has thought of Blair in Bloom.”
Vygantas Gadeikis from Mantalk added: “On behalf of Mantalk I would like to say thank you to Kevin for the support.
“We are a relatively new group in the town and every donation we get helps us to continue the work we do.”
And Gavin Hart, representing Jordan’s Challenge – which is raising money for a new mental health hub in the town – said: “We are very grateful to Kevin for the support that he, his staff and his customers continue to show towards the mental health hub, Jordan’s Challenge and the Wellmeadow Walkathon.
“The whole community has really taken us to their hearts and we really appreciate that.”
The calendars are priced at £7 each and are available now while stocks last.
