Gary Axworthy was on the scoresheet for Blairgowrie but Mark Brash’s men were defeated 4-1 away at Lochee Harp.

Blair went into Saturday’s Midlands League encounter hoping to kick on after a hardfought draw against Broughty Athletic the previous week.

However, hosts Harp wasted little time in getting on the scoresheet and took the lead in the third minute.

The visitors enjoyed a lot of possession at Beechwood Park but didn’t create any clear-cut chances.

Harp extended their lead after capitalising on a Blair mistake.

The east Perthshire side were then awarded a penalty in the 44th minute, which Axworthy dispatched making it 2-1 to Harp at half- time.

Blair came out for the second half looking to get back into the game, with Axworthy hitting the post.

They came close again on a couple of occasions but, ultimately, it wasn’t to be.

Harp sealed the points with two more goals before the final whistle.

Blairgowrie will need to pick themselves up ahead of Saturday’s home derby against Coupar Angus.

Coupar go into the tie after losing 2-0 at home to Dundee Downfield at the weekend.

The derby kicks off at 2.30pm at Davie Park.

• The October 10 Blairgowrie JFC berrypickers’ lottery numbers were 4, 5, 8 and 19.
