A fine return to form by Blair RFC
Blairgowrie RFC got back to winning ways with a 31-10 away win over Madras on Saturday.
It was an impressive performance from the east Perthshire side and marks a return to form after the club’s decision to step down a league and play in Caledonia Midlands Region League Division 2 for the remainder of the season.
The club is hosting an open training session at JJ Coupar Recreation Park on Thursday, November 3, in a bid to bolster its squad and hopefully attract new players.
In an appeal to the community, a club representative said:“This is now where we once again ask, if there is anyone you know who you think might fancy getting involved then please send them our way.
“Plans are in place for an open session of training on Thursday, November 3, for anyone keen to come and give it a go.
“As always, training is at 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights for the seniors.
“We encourage anyone aged 16 or older, of any ability, who is not currently playing to come along.
“For any new players, there is free membership for the first season and anything from boots to gum shields can be supplied if there are any financial issues, which obviously would be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
“We really just want everyone to have the opportunity to play this fantastic game.”
Blairgowrie’s next fixture is listed as being at home against Harris Academy FPs on Saturday, November 5.
Kick-off at JJ Coupar Recreation Park is at 11am.
The match is starting earlier than usual as a result of the Scotland men’s team taking on Fiji later the same day.
A group of Blairgowrie RFC players and supporters is making the trip to Murrayfield to take in the action.
