Blairgowrie-based firefighters are opening the doors to the station on Tuesday next week for the first monthly ‘Coffee with the crew’session.

The coffee mornings will take place from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the West George Street station and are part of the crew’s efforts to tackle social isolation and food and fuel poverty in the area.

Crew Commander Frankie Shepherd told the Blairie:“We know it’ll be a tough winter for many with the cost of living continuing to rise and we wanted to do our bit to tackle loneliness, and heat and food poverty, while attempting to have a positive impact on people’s mental health.

“The idea behind the coffee mornings is that we’re trying to create a safe, warm space with hot drinks and a bit of food for a few hours a month, for people to enjoy meeting new people and have a bit of social interaction.

“We’ll offer any fire safety advice to anyone who asks as well.

“So come and have a brew with the crew!”

Free transport to the coffee morning is available from the Freedom Coach.
