Goldilocks panto cast set to delight in Alyth

- JOHNATHON MENZIES

Rehearsals are well under way for an east Perthshire theatre group’s popular pantomime.

Talented members of Alyth Musical Society will perform ‘Goldilocks and the Twee Bears’ from December 1 to 3 at Alyth Town Hall.

Organisers have said that the fun-filled production features some familiar local faces, as well as few newcomers to the cast.

And if previous productions are anything to go by then audiences, cast and crew are in for a treat.

The production centres on a village buzzing in preparation for the celebration of the birthday of Princess Dua Fandango.

Security has been left in the hands of heroine, Goldie, and two hapless police officers, Clunk and Clink.

Taking up the story, director Andrew Beckett said: “This is just as well as the kingdom is currently subject to a crime spree at the paws of the notorious gang of outlaws known as the Trash Bandits.

“A family of bears has moved into the neighbourhood, and they seem too good to be true.”

He continued: “‘Goldilocks and the Twee Bears’ is not like any fairy story you’ve ever read before.

“There’s a host of goodies to cheer and baddies to boo!

“Three bears, two vampires and a cow.

“Not to mention two hopeless police constables, a queen, a princess, and a marauding horde of bandits.

“When disaster strikes, who will save the townsfolk from the evil machinations of a criminal mastermind?

“You’ll have to come along and find out.”

Tickets for last year’s panto sold out quickly, so the Society has advised budding audience members to book early.

They are priced at £9 for adults and £8 for children, with family tickets costing £30, and are available from Alyth’s Food for Thought.
