Two members of staff at an east Perthshire care home have been nominated for coveted awards.

It was revealed last week that Patrycja Dwojak, an activities co-ordinator at Balhousie Coupar Angus, has been nominated in the Employee of the Year category at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards.

The recognition comes hot on the heels of Patrycja’s colleague Lorna Menzies, a home administrator at the Meadowside Close care facility, being named as a finalist in the Ancillary Worker category at the Scottish Care Awards.

Morag Shea, home manager at

Balhousie Coupar Angus, said: “The whole home is thrilled to be recognised twice in a week for our amazing employees.

“Patrycja is so loved by our residents and appreciated by the care home team here, and Lorna is the backbone of the home. She has built amazing relationships with residents and their families, getting to know them from day one.

“She is a friend to all the residents, support for the care staff and boon to management. Lorna is so much more than an administrator; she is the glue that holds the place together.”

Morag continued: “I honestly couldn’t do my job without them. We’re rooting for both of them.”

Balhousie Care Group chair, Lieven

Baten, said: “I am delighted to see two of our staff honoured as finalists.

“It is vitally important that the unstinting devotion our staff give to the residents in their care is highlighted and celebrated.”

Both the Business Star Awards and Scottish Care Awards take place later this month, with the former at Crieff Hydro Hotel on November 25 and the latter at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on the Friday of the previous week.

• Others with links to east Perthshire have been shortlisted for honours at the upcoming Perthshire Chamber of

Commerce Business Star Awards.

These include Bridge of Cally’s Amelia Milton, of Smelleez Soap, in the Outstanding Young Business Person category.

In addition, Possible Estate Agents has been named in the Business Growth and Excellence in Customer Service categories.

Although based in Perth, the firm’s estate agency manager is Blairgowrie’s Laura Aitken – a former pupil at the town’s high school.
