Beautiful backdrop for latest craft fair

Ruthven Parish Association (RPA) is holding an arts and craft fair on Saturday this week at Ruthven Community Hall.

A similar event held in the former Ruthven Church building earlier in the year proved to be extremely popular, raising more than £500 for hall funds through a raffle and sales of tea, coffee, soup and home baking.

A further £500 was also raised for the British Red Cross Ukraine Appeal through donations, thanks to the generosity of those who went along.

Organisers have therefore decided to host another fair showcasing local arts and crafts and to set up a further collection for Ukraine.

James Ivory, chair of the RPA committee, commented:“There is such a huge range of superb artists and craftspeople in the local area in and around Ruthven.

“We have everything from ceramic artists, jewellers, and stained glass artists to wood carvers, textile artists, print and card makers plus so many more talented artists and craftspeople to choose from.

“The craft fair has been a regular feature on our RPA calendar since 2013 and always attracts a good crowd of local people as well as those travelling in from further afield to enjoy a wide selection of quality arts and crafts.”

Situated on the banks of the River Isla, the recently refurbished Ruthven Hall provides a beautiful back drop for the craft fair.

As well as the arts and crafts, teas and coffees and homemade soup will be available.

There will also be a home baking table as well as a table of edible oils, body creams and soaps.

Entry is by donation and there will also be an opportunity to win a luxury Christmas hamper as well as a number of prizes provided by the artisans and crafters themselves.

The fair will open at 11am and close at 3.30pm when the raffle will be drawn.
