Firm’s outdoor activities sure to float your boat
Those behind tourismrelated businesses had the opportunity to try out paddle boarding and using coracles on the River Ericht in Blairgowrie recently.
The session was organised by the Blairgowrie and East Perthshire Tourist Association and hosted by Outdoor Explore, one of its members.
The idea behind the session was to give BEPTA members an insight into some of the activities available in the area, helping them to provide their guests and visitors with advice and recommendations on things to do and see during their stay.
Outdoor Explore offers preplanned guided tours, private trips and tuition classes in kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and hand-crafted traditional coracles.
And the team at Outdoor Explore, which is the largest provider of coracles in Scotland, is also working to deliver on-land activities such as archery and bushcraft.
Director Piotr Gudan talked those gathered through Outdoor Explore’s services and offerings, detailing how important local connections and collaborations are to the business and the company’s commitment to minimising its environmental impact, including through its regular litter pick paddles.
Murray Scott from Blairgowrie’s Angus Hotel is chair of BEPTA.
He said: “On behalf of BEPTA I would like to say a huge thank you to Piotr and James from Outdoor Explore for a very interesting and informative session.
“It was great to find out more about what they do, the services they offer and their plans for the future.
“And it was fantastic to have a go at paddle boarding and using traditional coracles as well.
“This session was held as part of one of BEPTA’s quarterly board meetings, which are open to all tourism and tourism-related businesses in the Blairgowrie and East Perthshire area.
“Our next meeting takes place on Thursday, November 24, at 6.30pm in the Angus Hotel and we’re hoping to combine it with a fun social evening and networking session for members as well.
“Please put the date in your diaries as we know it is always a busy time of year, and we look forward to seeing you then.”
