GUTSY RATTRAY CLAIM A POINT

Nine-man hosts fight back for a draw in eight-goal thriller

- SPORTS REPORTER

There were plenty of footballing fireworks on Saturday as Rattray and Breadalbane played out an entertaining 4-4 draw at Davie Park.

Goals by Dee-Jay Tolmie, Colin Fraser and two from Peter Tracey ensured the hosts earned a vital league point.

Rattray were reduced to 10 men in the second half.

The score was 4-2 in the visitors’ favour at this point but losing a player seemed to rally Rattray and they got themselves back in the game.

Rattray were then reduced to nine men but they managed to hang on and secure a welcome share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, Burrelton Rovers remain in the Scottish Amateur Cup following the latest round of fixtures.

Third round ties took place on Saturday afternoon and Rovers can still progress further in the competition following a 2-2 home draw with Inverclyde thanks to goals from Cammy Conaghan and Gary Henderson.

The replay will now take place this weekend.

Kettins gave a great account of themselves in the same competition despite losing out 2-1 against impressive Glasgow outfit St Patrick’s FP.

The visitors had carved out a two-goal advantage early in the second half but the east Perthshire men did not give up.

With 10 minutes remaining, Jimis Fleming’s free-kick struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced over the line.

Kettins pushed for the leveller in the closing stages but could not find the goal they needed, despite going close.

Ballinluig, meanwhile, always faced a tough challenge away at Doune Castle and went down 9-1.

Cameron Ogg was the scorer for the Highland Perthshire men.

Other amateur results from Saturday were as follows:

A&B Taxi Division One - Jeanfield Swifts 9, Letham CC 0; Luncarty 4, Fair City 0.

Smart Fixings Division Two - Abernethy 0, Wolfhill 8; Auchterarder 2, Bridgeton 0; St Johns 11, Kinrossie 1.
