When passion meets performance and design, visions become reality. With the Burrasca, the Austrian manufacturer Belassi has created a new class: The Marine Hypercraft combines craftsmanship, exclusivity and performance with 320 hp in a unique water sports vehicle.
Since 2015 Belassi has been developing and manufacturing premium personal watercrafts. The new, ultramodern factory in Leiben, Lower Austria, is home to the company’s own engine development, engineering and product design. Craftsmanship, individualization and perfection are the principles on which Belassi is built. Every Burrasca Marine Hypercraft that leaves the factory has to pass extensive tests and meets the highest quality standards. «From the very beginning, our goal has been to produce more than just a personal watercraft. Burrasca is rather a commitment to an individual lifestyle, which is ahead of its time and constantly reaches its limits», explains Waldemar Pöchhacker, Head of Sales and Marketing.
TO MARINE HYPERCRAFT
When Pöchhacker talks about the idea of the Burrasca, he goes into raptures: «The personal watercrafts available on the market were simply too ordinary, too cheaply made, with too much plastic and poor driving performance. That’s why we decided to develop an exclusive, high quality, limited edition watercraft that clearly stands out from the crowd, comparable to a super sports car». Belassi’s engineering team, consisting of automotive, motor sports and vehicle construction experts, made it their goal to develop an exceptional product. After a few failures, many prototypes, countless tests and many other optimizations, the engineers cast this daring vision into a very special class of jet-powered watercraft: The Marine Hypercraft. The Burrasca model represents the first product in this new category.
FROM PWC TO MARINE HYPERCRAFT
With the current Burrasca MK II, which will be produced in exclusive series from November 2020, Belassi has created a new standard. This starts with the powerful heart, the turbocharged three-cylinder engine from own development, which has an enormous 320 hp. The cockpit and chassis are incomparable, with numerous carbon fiber parts that combine maximum strength with low weight and sharp looks. The Belassi engineers have also succeeded in creating a masterpiece for the hull: Thanks to the sophisticated hydrodynamics and the different stabilizers, the Burrasca is capable of extreme cornering speeds with acceleration of up to 4 g.
OWN DEVELOPMENT CENTER
In the new, ultra-modern development center, Belassi engineers not only continuously develop the highperformance engines, but also the product design and construction. No fewer than 2,000 high-quality individual parts are then assembled by hand in around 30 hours to create an exclusive masterpiece. Perfectiondowntothesmallestdetailisamatterofcourse. Top deck, handlebars, various engine parts, high-performance exhaust, X Frame hull reinforcement, stringers and outer covers are handmade of carbon fiber, a material that has also proven its worth in Formula 1. Before delivery, each Burrasca must also undergo around two hours of testing on the test bench and in water.
THE NAME SAYS IT ALL
Burrasca is the Italian word for storm. With this word Belassi addresses all those who are not satisfied with the ordinary. Water sports enthusiasts for whom an ordinary PWC is not enough, but who want a Marine Hypercraft. The basis for this is high-tech engineering that meets top performance and emotional design and is individually tailored to the needs of the respective rider. The result is a vehicle category that has never been seen before. «Perfection goes hand in hand with craftsmanship and individualization. Our credo is to exceed the expectations of each individual customer. That’s why every Burrasca is an individual masterpiece, made in Austria, tested and refined down to the smallest detail,» says Pöchhacker.
VISIONS OF A SUPERSPORT WORLD
As extraordinary as the Burrasca Marine Hypercraft itself are the visions of the noble smithy. «We start where others bow out: Out of our passion for top performance we have created an incomparable category of personal watercrafts. We are already thinking ahead today, for example to equip our Marine Hypercraft with even more power or alternatively with an electric drive, like a Formula E vehicle on the water. A Hypercraft for air, snow or underwater use would also be exciting,» says Pöchhacker looking into the distant future.
