Kim Woojin breaks 22-year-old world record

-

Kim Woojin has scored 352 (out of a possible 360 points) to break the 36 arrows at 50 metres world record at the 100th National Sports Festival in Seoul, Korea.

The previous record of 351 points was shot by another Korean, Kim Hyung Ho, in September 1997. It was the oldest standing outdoor record.

“I think I was lucky because I got many more 10s than I expected during the competition,” said Woojin. “I am pleased to have three world records at the moment. I will keep working for better performances.”

Woojin now owns three of the seven available recurve men’s outdoor world records; he also holds the world mark for the 1440 Round with 1391 points and the 36 arrow 90-metre distance with 343.

He lost the 72-arrow 70-metre ranking round record earlier this year when Brady Ellison scored 702 points at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.
