The advice from Archerygb, the national governing body in the UK, is stark: "In line with government guidelines regarding COVID-19, we are advising that all archery in the UK is postponed for the foreseeable future. Our priority is the health and safety of our members, participants, volunteers and staff."

This matches government advice to reduce contact to all but the essentials in order to stop the spread of the virus, with most people encouraged to practice social distancing.

Over the last couple of weeks as Bow went to press, clubs in the UK and throughout the world closed their doors. It is thought that shooting outdoors, even with careful social distancing, would be likely to invalidate insurance, so Bow urges all clubs to comply with the recommendation as listed until further notice. All archery shops and ranges are currently closed.

Bow recommends archers train at home paying particular attention to safety.
