2020 World Cup circuit finally cancelled
World Archery has completely cancelled its annual international competition circuit, the Hyundai Archery World Cup, in 2020 but will recognise world ranking events held from 1st September. The decision was unanimously approved by the federation’s executive board after a lengthy consultation process.
This means that no world or continental competitions will take place until the next outdoor season starts in 2021. Almost all international competitions have been cancelled for 2020. There has been no official decision on the 2021 Indoor Archery World Series; it is currently thought that some events may take place.
Next year’s Hyundai Archery World Cup season will see athletes compete at stages in Guatemala City, Shanghai and Paris from April to June 2021. A final, the host of which is yet to be announced, is provisionally scheduled for the autumn.
The final qualification tournament for Tokyo was initially scheduled to be held in Berlin in June 2020. However, following the one-year delay of the Games, it has been replaced by a stage in Paris in 2021.
