WORLD MASTERS GAMES POSTPONED UNTIL 2022

In the latest in a long list of tournament casualties, the World Masters Games, scheduled for May 2021 in Kansai, Japan, have been rescheduled for 2022.

Archery has long been a popular component of the Games, which have a mission to keep older amateur athletes competing. Over 14,000 athletes had registered an interest in competing. The Masters have been popular with retired professional athletes and former Olympic competitors, with hundred of Olympians taking part alongside amateur athletes.

It is also thought that the Kansai Games were expected to use venues and equipment from the Tokyo 2020 competition; with this postponed, it was difficult to go ahead with many sports.

An edition of the Games has been confirmed for Taipei, Taiwan in 2025.
