WHAT IS IT?

Guatemala is one of the four stages of the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit, although in Olympic years like this one, there’s only three stages. It replaces Medellin as the Americas leg, and intends to be back next year, too.

CAN I JOIN IN?

Not directly. Entrants have to be sent by their national governing body. Check to see if you make the minimum qualifying scores for World Cups – self-funded places may be available, it depends.

TELL ME SOMETHING

Guatemalans invented the first-ever chocolate bar. There are more than 30 volcanoes in the country. The banknotes feature the national bird, the quetzal. Despite these fascinating facts, few people can point to Guatemala on a map.
