WOMEN’S TEAM: THE FACTS
Korea kept up their golden winning streak in the women’s team archery event at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field on Sunday; they have won gold at all nine Olympic Games that the competition has been on the programme. None of the current women’s team were born when the streak started. (Nine equals the longest active gold-medal streak for a country in any Olympic event, tying it up with the USA in the men’s 4x100m medley relay in swimming and Kenya in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase in athletics.) Ksenia Perova, who took silver with the ROC team, was also part of the silver-winning women’s team for Russia in Rio five years ago. Germany won its fourth Olympic medal in archery, with Lisa Unruh taking her second Olympic medal, after claiming silver in the women’s individual event at Rio 2016.
