‘I LOVED MARVIN HAGLER’S AGGRESSION AND THE FACT THAT HE WAS NEVER IN A BORING FIGHT’ Marc Kerr
When and why you started boxing:
I was 20 years old when I started boxing. I was just trying to lose some weight.
Favourite all-time fighter:
My favourite fighter ever is Marvin Hagler. I loved his aggression and the fact that he was never in a boring fight.
Best fight you’ve seen:
The Jamie Moore-matthew Macklin fight was a really great one to watch.
Personal career highlight:
My best achievement in boxing so far is turning pro. I never expected it to happen.
Toughest opponent:
Darryl Sharp [w pts 6 – July 2017] was as tough as nails. He just kept coming forward.
Best and worst attributes as a boxer:
My main strengths are my high work rate and pressure-fighting. However, I can sometimes get involved in a war and not stick to the game plan.
Training tip:
“Take f**k all.” [Trainer] Gary Jacobs said that to me.
Favourite meal/restaurant:
My favourite meal is definitely a mac and cheese burger from Smoke BBQ.
Best friends in boxing:
My best friends in the sport are all of the SK Promotions team. They’ve been there since the beginning. Other sportsman you would like to be:
If I wasn’t a boxer, it’d be good to be someone like Usain Bolt.
Last film/tv show you saw:
The last film I watched was one of the Harry Potter ones!
Who would play you in a film of your life:
Miles Teller [who starred as Vinny Pazienza in the boxing movie, Bleed for This]. He could play me in a film about my life!
Have you ever been starstruck:
I remember feeling starstruck when I met Michael Buffer!
Last time you cried:
The last time I cried was when I lost a family pet.
Best advice received:
A little bit of hard work goes a long way.
Worst rumour about yourself:
I’ve never heard any rumours about myself.
Something not many people know about you:
Something not many people know about me is that I used to be overweight. I was 17st [238lbs] at one point.
