GRAHAM OUTFOXED

Andy Whittle sees Anthony silence another set of supporters

-

WESTBURY’S Anthony Fox obviously hadn’t read the script ahead of his sixround bill-topper at the Corn Exchange (Shamrock Promotions) against Aylesbury’s former Southern Area superwelterweight champ Nathan Graham. Taking the initiative from the very start, Fox duly wound up a 59-57 winner on the card of referee Lee Cook.

His escape route cut off by the marauding Fox, Graham found himself increasingly having to work off the ropes. Even when he was able to do so, having gone southpaw in the closer middle rounds, his respite proved only short.

This show included not one but two Barcelona-based Nicaraguans in the shape of Miguel Aguilar and Johnson

Tellez, both of whom lost out over the distance in respective bouts against Milton Keynes novice Connor Wright and Sheffield’s Muheeb Fazeldin.

Wright, urged on from ringside by Frank Bruno, eased to a shutout 40-36 victory, while Fazeldin – a little too flashy at times – ran out a 60-55 victor. Both bouts were officiated by Lee Every.

Northampton’s Nathan Reeve, who returned last year after a lengthy absence, came out on top in a highly watchable encounter against Georgia’s Khvicha

Gigolashvili. Mr Every awarded Reeve a 59-57 win, and the same official was in charge as Stevenage debutant Lauren Parker delighted her noisy followers by outscoring Bulgaria’s Teodora Hristova 40-38. Increasingly under the cosh, Hristova picked up a cut to the right eyebrow.

Another one that finished 40-38, this time for Mr Cook, was the four between Bedford’s one-fight Micky Mills and Stourbridge veteran Kevin Mccauley. Meanwhile, local Julian Wilson proved too much for Lithuania’s Remigijus

Ziausys, whom he floored twice en route to a 40-34 victory. Mr Cook was the third man.

THE VERDICT Having bested Ryan Aston just a month earlier, this was a fourth win on the bounce for the improving Fox.
