THREE & EASY
The home ghters on show secure a trio of comfortable victories
LIKEABLE promoter Neil Marsh’s final offering of the season was a dinner show at the DW Stadium – home of his beloved Wigan Athletic FC. A trio of four-round contests was the fare on offer, cut from four after the late falling through of a fight involving Delph’s popular Andy Kremner.
Warrington’s Danny Craven had lost his last two bouts by 58-57 – no disgrace in that, though, bearing in mind that those who edged him out were both decent operators in the shape of Sunderland’s Isaac Macleod and Southampton-based South African Luther Clay.
Craven was pleased to have his arm raised after claiming a shutout 40-36 win over Stourbridge’s Kevin Mccauley who, now having lost 15 on the bounce, is fast closing in on his 200th paid contest, this being his 196th.
Southport’s Jake Barton and Warrington’s Courtney Chadwick took 100 per cent records into their respective matchups against Bognor Regis’ Callum Ide and Oldham new-starter Taka
Bembere. Both emerged with their perfect ledgers intact as referee John Latham – who was the man in the middle throughout – turned in cards reading 40-36 for Barton and a slightly closer 40-37 for Chadwick.
Ide arrived in Lancashire looking for his first victory in what was his 17th pro outing, but despite his best efforts, he was always second best to Barton. Jake kept a clean slate for the second consecutive contest, having shut out the now-retired Curtis Gargano in March.
Chadwick, a debut winner at this same venue over Youssef Al Hamidi in December, sent his supporters home happy, while extinguishing any hopes debutant Bembere entertained of making a triumphant start.
THE VERDICT A straightforward night’s work for Craven, Barton and Chadwick.
