AGE 23 FROM England STANCE Orthodox TITLES England Boxing Elite

WITH Olympic boxing opening up to wider range of female weight divisions, 57kgs is a category worth paying attention to. Raven Chapman won the England Boxing Elite championships in 2016 and is now boxing internationally. She entered the Silesian Open in Gliwice, Poland. Chapman won her first international bout in Poland on September 11 when she unanimously outpointed India’s Shashi Chopra. Her next bout the following day saw her drawn against experienced host nation boxer Sandra Kruk. Kruk won a split decision but Chapman gained valuable experience boxing for GB and will now work towards winning a place on the Podium squad. At welterweight Chapman’s GB teammate Omarah Taylor also reached the quarter-finals. There Russia’s Yaroslava Yakushina took a unanimous decision over her. Taylor won her opening contest stopping Poland’s Malgorzata Rauczynska in two rounds.
