‘I haven’t been disrespectful, it’s just him rambling on’

CATTERALL feels that Davies is inferior to him in every department. Indeed, he seemed more sympathetic than antagonistic towards the Hackney-based boxer.

“I don’t pay too much attention to him, I think he’s a very mixed-up person,” Catterall said. “I don’t think he is actually nasty, he just says stuff that is stupid and that he doesn’t know much about. I shrug anything he has said about me off. You cannot take it personally. That also goes for stuff a lot of other people have to say in boxing. Boxers, journalists, trainers or anyone out there can say something about fighters. Once you let it get into your head, you’ve already been beaten.

“I haven’t been disrespectful. It is just him rambling on, really, and that is why I don’t really have an opinion about it... I wouldn’t have agreed to this fight if I didn’t believe I could win it. I’ve always believed in my ability and this is just the next step. It will be another loss on his record to add to the one that Josh Taylor gave him.”
