TOMMY IS TOPS
White Hart Lane show has hard-hitters in action, writes Daniel Herbert
POWERDAY HOOKS staged the seventh annual Luke Fitzpatrick Memorial show at the Harrow Club, with the award named after the tragically murdered teen going to Tommy Lee O’donnell for beating Jamie Hall (White Hart Lane).
In a heavyweight three-threes, between a pair who both lost in the last season’s Elite championships to eventual champion Lewis Williams, were Barum southpaw Rob Squires and Evolve’s Jamie Smith. Smith ploughed forward in a bid to land hard, single blows, but Squires’ better speed and variety enabled him to score with left hands on the way to a unanimous win. Rob, who came all the way from Barnstaple, was named Best Away Boxer.
An all-southpaw female contest won unanimously by Talia Rumble
(Riverside) against the hosts’ Jordan Barrett, while another skilful Riverside entry Joe Whiting,
dropped a narrow split decision to Hooks portsider Joel Fallon.
A bout matching two southpaws saw Jamie Barrett (Powerday Hooks) land frequently on White Hart Lane’s Anthony Mcdonagh
yet have to settle for a split decision.
