GOLDHAWK DOWN
Kash wins in a ash ahead of his meeting with Price
WITH an appointment on Merseyside against David Price just over a month away, the preparation of Birmingham’s
Kash Ali continued apace at Villa Park, where he required just 2-27 of a scheduled six-rounder to demolish Hoddesdon’s Colin “Butch” Goldhawk. A chopping right, hot on the heels of a meaty uppercut, sent the tattooed Goldhawk over and out for referee-forthe-night Shaun Messer’s count.
The only other six-rounder on this Tommy Owens card saw Brummie Jack
O’keeffe secure a shut-out success against Worcester’s Michael Mooney. As usual, Mooney gave a good account of himself and contributed to a highly watchable tussle.
There was an odd end to the bout between Wolverhampton’s Clayton
Bricknell and Dewsbury’s Youssef Al Hamidi. After just 1-41 of a slated four, proceedings were halted after the Syriaborn Al Hamidi, in the act of evading a Bricknell advance, was left hopping and in obvious trouble. A problem with his left knee rendered him unable to continue and forced the contest to be declared a technical draw.
Local Matt Sen banished memories of an early defeat here last time out by returning to winning ways against Lithuanian scrapper Remigijus Ziausys, with Mr Messer scoring 39-38. It would have been interesting if the visitor, losing for the 100th time, had offered anything at all in the opener.
Burntwood’s Sean Daly was headed for a shutout against Blackwood’s Paul Ducie but made doubly sure by flooring the visitor with a right in the dying seconds to win 40-35. Elsewhere, there were wins for Birmingham’s Ben Fields and Telford’s Ammir Fiaz. Fields beat Cannock’s Lee Gunter 40-37 and Fiaz defeated Bolton’s Chris Jenkinson 40-36.
THE VERDICT Nice to see ex-pros Adam Etches and Dominic Negus in opposing corners for the main event.
