SALTIRE BOXING PROMOTIONS headed to Scotland’s newest boxing venue – The Rivals Sports Arena in Wishaw, owned by Scott Allan. You could see how much it meant to him to headline here as he faced off against Marius Vysniauskas. Scott used the opening rounds to showcase to fans; pivoting, switching and throwing flashy combinations. The Lithuanian was game as always, coming forward with attempts to put it on the popular fighter but it eventually led him to trouble as a perfectly timed overhand right sent him to the canvas in the third round. Amazingly, despite Allan following up with huge shots that sent Vysniauskas wobbling, he didn’t give up or go down again. With his legs gone and face bloodied it was Kenny Pringle who decided he had seen enough. The referee stepped in at 1-51 of the fifth round to call an end to the bout, giving Scott his first stoppage victory.

Before that, Martin Crossan and Dimitri Protkunas met for both of their fourth professional bouts. The pair battled it out for the centre of the ring with the Estonian showed his desire to win with his ramrod jab to keep the local boxer thinking. Crossan adapted well and was more than capable of holding his own on the backfoot and picking his shots nicely to secure a 40-36 win from Pringle.

Jake Limond opened with a 40-36 points win over John Spencer. The Manchester lad used switch-hitting and goading tactics in attempt to draw the Glaswegian into a big shot but with his dad Willie shouting instructions from ringside, Limond Jnr showed composure to not overcommit with his flashy combos and kept the fight at range to ensure he got the victory on Pringle’s scorecard.
