AMAN who called police to report he had been mugged turned out to be a drug dealer. Danny Carr told how he had £1,500 cash and his Rolex watch stolen by a gun-toting robber.

But when police investigated they found he had £17,000 worth of cocaine as well as a small quantity of cannabis.

Carr, 30, of Eastwood Road in Broomhill, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply and offering to supply cannabis in December last year.

The recorder Ms Hannah Willcocks jailed him for 30 months.

She told Carr: “You accepted street supply.

“You had a significant role and you were motivated by financial advantage.”

Robert Reid, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court Carr reported he had been mugged when he went to Goal Soccer Centre in Brislington to buy dogs.

Police viewed CCTV showing an altercation between Carr and three men.

A search of his car uncovered a bag containing 248g of 78 per cent pure cocaine with a street value of £17,360.

Analysis of his mobile phone then revealved text messages referring to the supply of cocaine and cannabis.

In interview married father-of-three Carr told police he bought the cocaine for £5,000 and had a serious addiction to it.

“He has made some very poor decisions”

Mr Reid told the court: “He said he snorted 7g to 14g per night and the only supply was social supply.

“He has since reneged from that account in his basis of plea.”

Melissa Toney, defending, said her client had no relevant previous convictions.

She said: “He has made some very poor decisions.

“At the time he was heavily using drugs himself.

“He found himself in a large financial debt and he was finding it very difficult to pay.”

Miss Toney said Carr had since found scaffolding work and drugs were no longer a problem for him.

She said: “He is very much a familyorientated man at the minute.

“There’s an element of remorse and he accepts full responsibility.”
