THE VOICE KIDS

ITV, 8pm FOR all the kids who have been allowed to stay up to watch the football, this familyfriendly talent show is the perfect thing to fill the void.

The singing contest for kids aged seven to 14 returned on Saturday for a second series, but is on every night this week, culminating in a live final.

Music star Will.i.am, pop princess Pixie Lott and McFly frontman Danny Jones are the coaches in the big red swivelling chairs.

Emma Willis hosts as the youngsters take on the blind auditions, trying to nab one of 12 spots on each coach’s team.

Don’t worry, unlike the adult version, the coaches always turn their chairs at the end to offer some kind words, so no silent walks of shame off the stage.

On Wednesday it’s the Battles, then the Semi-Final on Friday before Saturday’s grand finale and a chance to win a £30,000 bursary towards their musical education, plus a family holiday to Disneyland Paris.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

BBC1, 9pm IT’S hard to imagine Lee Mack, king of one-liners, being remotely serious.

But as he embarks on a discovery of his ancestors, not everything he finds out can be laughed about.

Not Going Out star Lee, 49, knows that his paternal great grandfather was also a comedian, a variety hall performer known as Billy Mac.

As he leafs through old playbills, you can even see a family resemblance.

But Lee, pictured, then finds out that Billy was a wartime comic, who survived one of the bloodiest days of the First World War, at the Battle of the Somme.

Billy was also part of comedy troupe The Optimists, who sometimes performed on the front-line.

Lee said: “That’s unbelievable – to have been shot at, or perhaps to have killed someone, and then to walk on stage.”

Later, Lee also discovers that his maternal great grandfather in Ireland had a rather unusual way of earning extra money.
