Angling Steve catches some superb fish on trip to Norway

- Roy GARLAND postsport@b-nm.co.uk

ASHORT fishing holiday in Norway produced recordbreaking fish for Veals sea fishing manager Steve Ace.

He said; After a brief discussion with a boat angler who told us there were some nice cod and coalfish being caught locally ‘from the shore’, we set off to find the place.

“On arrival, we decided to fish with lures for a couple of hours and for the first three hours or more we had great fun catching cod to double figures plus the odd smaller, coalfish.

“It was approximately five minutes after fishing a solid bait that the tip of my rod arched over, and following a good solid scrap a healthy 32-5-0 cod came to my net. I was told later that it was a superb fish for July. We eventually went back to fishing lures and, a few minutes later, I hooked and netted a coalfish which weighed around the 14-0-0 mark, followed by a tremendous arm-aching beast, and our best coalfish of the day, which weighed a good 19lb-plus.”
