Awards Don’t miss the chance to nominate somebody for one of our sporting accolades
THERE’S less than three weeks to go before nominations close for this year’s Bristol Post Sports Awards, which will be held at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate stadium on Thursday, October 18.
So, if you know of somebody or some club that has done great deeds over the past year, don’t miss the chance to put them forward for one of our awards.
Most of the categories listed below aim to recognise the huge amount of good work that goes on at an amateur level in the Bristol area, while we also have a few awards for elite and professional sportsmen and sportswomen.
As well as the 14 categories, there is an overall Bristol Post Sports Personality of the Year award, which is decided upon by title sponsor Dribuild. Previous winners of this award were gymnast Claudia Fragapane (2014), boxer Lee Haskins (2015), swimmer Siobhan-Marie O’Connor (2016) and athlete Simran Kaur (2017).
Highly-respected BBC broadcaster John Inverdale will again compere this year’s awards. Aidan Murphy, who was shortlisted for the Bristol Post Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2017, continues to make great strides in the snooker world. The Bristol youngster has just been called up to represent England in the Under-16 Home Internationals, to be held at Leeds Northern Snooker Centre over four days in August
