Football Lockyer strikes for Rovers but Yeovil hit back with Mugabe goal

-

BRISTOL Rovers continued their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against League Two Yeovil Town at Huish Park last night.

It was Rovers’ first real test this pre-season campaign after they opened up with a 6-0 victory over Southern League Division One West side Melksham Town on Saturday.

In a period of first-half domination, Rovers took the lead through Tom Lockyer and also hit the crossbar through Chris Lines as they looked relatively comfortable against the hosts in patches.

However, they did not have it all their own way, with the Glovers having chances of themselves before leveling the scores after halftime through Bevis Mugabe’s close- range header. Sam Matthews then struck the bar with a curling effort from the edge of the box as Rovers looked to retake the lead, with Tom Nichols and Liam Sercombe also going close.

Yet there was to be no winner for either side as the game ended in a draw.

The Gas now travel to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.
