FIVE Bristol schools have been given the nod to form a new multi-academy trust in the city.

Redland Green School will join hands with Ashton Park School, Ashton Vale Primary, Compass Point Primary and Luckwell Primary to become the new Gatehouse Green Learning Trust.

The trust, which has been in the works since early 2017, has now received approval from the Department for Education to be created.

Sarah Baker, headteacher at Redland Green and chief executive designate of the new trust, said: “We are forming the Gatehouse Green Learning Trust because we know as governors and school leaders, we can work better together than standing alone.

“In partnership we can share our best practice, learn, and challenge each other to develop and improve further.

“We are already building networks for subject development and the secondary schools are collaborating to create an exciting and demanding key stage three curriculum.

“In the primary schools all will benefit from developing resources and activities as part of a larger professional community.

“We look forward to working with parents and the community to ensure the schools provide high quality education for all our children, are a great place to work and have a positive impact in the community in Bristol.”
