EUROSTAR’S new Amsterdam and Rotterdam service, launched earlier this year, will introduce a third train each day from June to meet demand.
The trains are direct outward, but passengers must disembark in Brussels to clear immigration on the inward journey. The UK and Dutch governments aim to have border controls in place in Amsterdam Central station by the end of 2019 to allow a direct return. Eurostar says as soon as it is in place it will run four trains a day with ambitions for five. Fares start at £35 one way. See eurostar.com
BUDGET FLIGHTS TO VANCOUVER
NO-FRILLS Icelandic carrier Wow is starting a seasonal, six-timesa-week route from Gatwick to Vancouver on Canada’s Pacific Coast next summer.
One-way fares to the spectacularly located British Columbia city will start at £129 – but the journey via Reykjavík will take a whopping 14 hours, and includes changing planes in Iceland.
The inaugural flight will depart on June 6, with the transatlantic sector operated by a state-ofthe-art Airbus A321neo aircraft.
