✒ THE Great Western So­ci­ety pro­motes in­ter­est in the for­mer Great Western Rail­way and, at Did­cot Rail­way Cen­tre in Oxfordshire, has pre­served a rep­re­sen­ta­tive col­lec­tion of lo­co­mo­tives, rolling stock and small relics. The Bris­tol Group of the so­ci­ety spe­cialises in sig­nalling and has re-erected on the site at Did­cot sig­nal-boxes from Frome and Rad­stock, which are reg­u­larly demon­strated to visi­tors.

The group holds a monthly meet­ing open to all. The next meet­ing will be held on Tues­day, Novem­ber 13, and will be given by Ger­ald Ni­chols, who will be pre­sent­ing Mark War­bur­ton’s Slides of Som­er­set and Devon Branch Lines at BAWA, 589 South­mead Road, Fil­ton (7.30pm).
