Giving Bristol a bad name

-

✒ BRISTOL is a great city but it seems to have a problem with-street-level crime and anti-social behaviour. It’s great to see the new cycle lanes going in, like on Princes Street and Baldwin Street, but it’s got to be said that some people who cycle give the rest a bad name – riding too fast among pedestrians, riding at night without lights, cycling in an intimidating way.

Some Bristol cyclists seem to need reining in. Better rules would help. Maybe some plainclothes police could cycle around and catch and deter these people.

There’s also a problem with the street drunks. I saw a bearded young hobo, a guitar strapped to his back and a can of alcohol in his hand, rudely harass a tourist in Baldwin Street on Sunday. The tourist walked off with a bad impression. Maybe Bristol needs to get tough on street beggars and harassing behaviours in public.
