A 46-year-old man who remains in hospital with “life changing injuries” after he was attacked at a Fishponds bus stop has been named.

The incident happened at around 8.40pm on October 9, in Downend Road, but police have now named the victim.

The force said Oneil Yearde remains in hospital and has suffered life-changing injuries as a result of the attack, which was linked to the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old Ronald Leigh which had happened less than two hours earlier.

Mr Leigh was stabbed on Gill Avenue at around 6.50pm and died of his injuries three days later.

According to police, a car pulled up near Mr Leigh and his friends before a man got out of the vehicle and an altercation ensued. It was then that Mr Leigh was killed.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has named Mr Yearde in an attempt to identify those involved in the two attacks.

Six people have been arrested in connection with the second assault but no charges have been brought.

Detective inspector Mike Buck said: “If you have any information about either incident, in particular who was involved, please get in touch with us or provide it to Crimestoppers.

“You don’t have to provide your name and you could earn yourself a reward of £1,000 if the information you provide leads to someone being charged.”
