POLICE have revealed a woman has become the second person to die “in tragic and complex circumstances” in an incident at an address which also claimed the life of her partner.

Police have not yet revealed official identification for the deceased but the Post understands Natalie Louise Smith died last night in hospital from serious injuries.

Her partner, Craig Stewart, died at the scene of the incident in Cambridge Street on Thursday.

Police previously revealed Craig died from stab wounds. They are referring to it as an “isolated incident”.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said: “Police can now confirm that a woman who suffered serious injuries following an incident at a property in Redfield sadly died in hospital last night, Friday 9 November.

“The incident, in which a man also died at the scene, took place at around 5pm on Thursday 8 November at a property in Cambridge Street.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and officers are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation, but if anyone has any information they think may help, please get in touch through www.avonandsomerset. police.uk/contact.”

Natalie was taken to hospital at the time while paramedics remained at the scene, attempting to save Craig.

Senior Investigating Officer DI Mike Buck said: “We would like to thank the local residents for their support during the initial stages of our investigation.

“Two people have lost their lives in tragic and complex circumstances and our thoughts are very much with their families.

“We would like to thank people for their patience while we continue our investigation in order to unpick those circumstances and fully understand what happened.”

Police and ambulance spokespersons are referring to the address as in Redfield but some local residents consider the street to be part of Barton Hill.

Emergency services were called to Cambridge Street shortly after 5pm “to reports two people had suffered life-threatening injuries.”

As news of the incident began to spread, the man who died was named locally as father-of-two Craig Stewart, reportedly aged 35.
