DRESSED to impress

WHICH CELEBRITIES EARNED STYLE POINTS THIS WEEK?

IT WASN’T stipulated on the dress code but a host of attendees at the 21st British Independent Film Awards in London at the weekend decided the time was right to think pink.

From baby to hot pink, crimson and magenta, there was no getting away from the colour of the night.

Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker, who was presenting one of the evening’s gongs, was hard to miss in a dipped-hem fuchsia midi. With its open shoulders and oversized frills, the dress was quite the departure from her Time Lord wardrobe.

At the more sugary end of the pink scale, Gemma Arterton – nominated for her work in The Escape – made quite the impact in a stunning gown by Emilia Wickstead.

Despite its modest neckline and floorsweeping length, the dress’s low back and sides brought a hint of sexiness to the gown.

Ellie Bamber’s hot pink Salvatore Ferragamo gown featured a similar design. The star of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ dress was business in front – with its high neck and princessy puff sleeves – but party at the back.

The Sugar Plum Fairy herself would have loved it.
