Drunken reveller urinated in front of family in street

-

A DRUNKEN reveller at St Paul’s carnival downed 10 cans of strong lager before urinating in front of a family.

And when two security guards tried to escort him from the scene he hit one and bit the other and was found to have a lock knife, Bristol Crown Court heard.

Jamie Horobin told a judge he was suffering from “night terrors” at the time.

The 26-year-old, of Wick Road in Brislington, pleaded guilty to two assaults and possessing a blade.

Having deferred sentence from August, Judge James Patrick handed him a 16-month jail term, suspended for two years.

He told Horobin: “A combination of what you had taken and your mental health meant that you weren’t functioning properly. Drink made you a significant risk to people trying to maintain good order.”

Horobin was told to undergo rehabilitation and carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.

Neil Treharne, prosecuting, said when a security guard tried to escort Horobin away he undid his trousers and urinated in view of a family. In a fracas that ensued Horobin hit one of the security men on the chin and bit the other’s bicep, the court heard.

Police called in detained him and found he had a lock knife with an 8.5cm blade.

When he sobered up he accepted consuming at least ten cans of strong European lager, Mr Treharne said. He said he couldn’t recall what happened due to intoxication and apologised.

He added that the knife used to be his grandfather’s, accepted it looked bad but said he had no intention of using it.
