Show celebrates unity and diversity

-

A special exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of a twinning partnership between Bristol and the capital of Georgia has opened in the city.

The exhibition, celebrating three decades of the friendship between Bristol and Tbilisi - the capital of Georgia - has opened at City Hall.

The historical part of the exhibition includes photographs and prints from different BristolTbilisi Twinning Association projects and Bristol and Tbilisi landscape images which will give viewers images of the beautiful places they live.

Organisers say the idea behind the exhibition is to celebrate friendship, international connection, cultural diversity, selfexpression, innovation and traditions.

The exhibition was held in September at Tbilisi History Museum in Karvasla where the first young Georgian and British artists’ group art exhibition “Silk Road”, curated by British artists Bruce Allan and Anthea Nicholson, was held in 1994.

It moved to the TBC bank base in Tbilisi in October.

The Mayors of Bristol and Tbilisi, Marvin Rees and Kakha Kaladze; the Guild of Guardians Bristol; British Ambassador to Georgia, Justin McKenzie Smith; the first Honorary Consul of Georgia in UK, Alderman Derek Pickup, and many British and Georgian businessmen attended the exhibition during the Bristol Business Conference in Tbilisi.
