PASSENGERS’ OUTRAGE AS RODENT SEEN SCURRYING ABOUT INSIDE LIGHT FITTING ON BUS

ARODENT has been captured on video crawling inside the light panel of a double-decker bus in Bristol.

Passengers on board the number 76 First Bus were left stunned after spotting the animal – believed to be a mouse – trapped inside.

Video footage recorded by shocked onlooker Simone Blanning showed the mouse scurrying around its plastic prison – its feet and tail clearly visible.

Simone, 21, said she was so repulsed by the rodent she decided to move seats.

But when she told the driver, she said he told her “not to worry, it can stay where it is”.

Pregnant Simone explained: “I was on route into town from Southmead Hospital with my boyfriend.

“He spotted it first. He said ‘look up there’ and I did and I saw this mouse crawling around inside the light.

“I have no idea how it got in but it was definitely trapped. Another passenger at the back of the bus saw it and he started filming on his phone, too.

“When I got off, I said to the driver there is a mouse trapped inside the light and he said ‘don’t worry, it can stay where it is’.

“I’ve got a phobia of mice and I’m pregnant. It made me feel really disgusted so I moved seats, because I didn’t want to be anywhere near it.

“I emailed First about it but I haven’t heard back from them yet.”

The mouse was spotted by Simone sometime between 2.30pm and 3pm on December 11.

The bus, which connects Cribbs Causeway with Hengrove, was on Gloucester Road when the mouse made its appearance.

A First spokesperson apologised to passengers and said the animal was later removed.

“This incident has been brought to our attention and we are currently investigating the matter,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

“We would like to apologise to the passengers of the number 76 service and can confirm that the animal was safely removed from the bus.”
