Two hurt in rush-hour road collision

-

TWO people were taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash near Cribbs Causeway during morning rush hour yesterday.

One patient was taken to hospital in a police car and the other in an ambulance after the collision on the A4081, opposite Laurel Court, earlier.

Video footage taken by a motorist showed a red Audi and a silver van were among the vehicles involved in the crash, which was reported to emergency services at around 8.15am. The collision – which happened opposite Dick Lovett’s BMW garage – left one lane blocked and caused significant delays in the area. It is understood the two people taken to hospital suffered minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “At 8.13am, crews from Southmead and Patchway were called to a threevehicle road traffic collision on Laurel Court in Cribbs Causeway. All casualties were released prior to our arrival and firefight- ers made the scene safe. One casualty was conveyed to hospital by police following first aid by firefighters and another was conveyed to hospital by ambulance.”

The spokesperson indicated the police offered to take the patient to hospital to save another ambulance being sent.

“It allowed for us to secure the scene quicker,” the spokesperson added.

The road was fully reopened by 10am.
